Brooklyn Rules DVD caps and March madness!

I’ve added screencaps from the DVD of Brooklyn Rules (which is now out in Australia) - I love the big hair on Mena! Hehe! Also I’ve added 4 new event gallery’s for the month of March - Mena’s been busy in LA. Shes has attended the CSMC Women’s Guild which honored Donna Karan, a Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation’s event called “Sparkling Sundae“, she went with her man to a Lakers vs Raptors basketball game and was spotted on Day 4 at LA Fashion Week - she was front row to view Jenny Han’s Fall 2008 collection. There you can see her new lower back tattoo (word.sound.power) and if you look closely you can see her one on her breast plate/upper abs. Enjoy!

Mena signs on for ‘Garden Of Eden’

Cinematical posted this a few days ago which reveals information on Mena’s new film.

At yesterday’s Brooklyn Rules press junket, Mena Suvari, who plays the uptown girl who falls in love with Freddie Prinze Jr’s Brooklyn tough guy in the film, was eager to talk up her upcoming projects, including Day of the Dead. I asked her if she gets to turn into a zombie in the film, to which she replied: “No, I play a corporal in the Army and I save the day!” She also said that she worked six day weeks on gun training and did all her own stunts. She also told me that she will be in director John Irvin’s (Hamburger Hill, Next of Kin) upcoming adaptation of the Hemingway novel, The Garden of Eden. Set in Spain, the story is about an expat American and his wife who both fall in love with a beautiful young woman named Marita — the part Suvari will presumably play. “It’s very deep. It’s a Hemingway story, it’s one of his last stories and its a very complicated piece,” Suvari said. “We’re shooting in Spain and it takes place in Spain and the south of France. I’m very excited about that.”

I also asked Suvari about her very, very brief part as Richie Berlin in Factory Girl, and whether it was all that was left of something more substantial: “They took a couple things out, but there were so many cameos in that movie that were taken fully out … they weren’t in the movie,” Suvari said. “They had me come in and shoot some extra footage that didn’t go in there. Richie Berlin wasn’t a huge fan of Andy Warhol, so she wasn’t so much in the Factory. And I didn’t really know what they were doing with it and with the character. Richie never really wanted to talk to me … I had to dig to do my research. But she talked about how she felt like she was the only one who really cared about Edie, so they tried to play that up in the film and add a couple of things, and then they did a different route with Edie, making it more of a narrative, like when she’s talking about it in the hospital, all of that was added later. They just went a different route.”

Exciting times! Look out Spain! We look forward to hearing more about the film.
Thanks to Virginia for letting me know!

‘Brookyln Rules’ - FINALLY released!

So pleased to announce that Brooklyn Rules will be released in theaters in the US on May 18th. Below is a bit about the film starring Alec Baldwin, Freddie Prinze Jr, Scott Caan and Jerry Ferrara.

Written by three-time Emmy winner Terence Winter (The Sopranos), Brooklyn Rules is a powerful story of loyalty, friendship, and sacrifice. Set in Brooklyn circa 1985 against the backdrop of John Gotti’s rise to power, the film revolves around three lifelong friends whose different ambitions threaten to shake their enduring bond.

Michael (Freddie Prinze Jr.), the narrator, is a lovable charmer with the soul of a con man who successfully scams his way into the pre-law program at Columbia University. In contrast to Michael’s desire to leave the Brooklyn streets behind, his close friend Carmine (Scott Caan), a handsome lady-killer enamored by the Mafia lifestyle, wants nothing more than to stay there. Rounding out the trio is Bobby (Entourage’s Jerry Ferrara), an endearing cheapskate who longs for a simple life of working at the Post Office and settling down with his fiancée.

While at Columbia, Michael falls for a beautiful young student named Ellen (Mena Suvari), a society girl whom he initially wins over with his preppy schoolboy cover. As their relationship blossoms, leaving the streets behind seems increasingly possible, but when Carmine catches the eye of Caesar (Alec Baldwin), a feared mobster who controls their Brooklyn neighborhood, Michael and Bobby are drawn into that world despite their reluctance to get involved.

Brooklyn Rules comes down to the choices faced by three young men when the right path is not always the easiest to follow, and when being a loyal friend can mean making the ultimate sacrifice.

Also here are two photos of Mena from the film - starring as Ellen!

On The Set of ‘Nailed Right In’ - Part 2

It’s midnight on a Friday night at the Holy Rosary Church in Harlem, hardly the time and place for a wedding attended by hot young Hollywood-types. Yet Freddie Prinze Jr. and Mena Suvari, both decked out in formal gear, are watching Scott Caan tie the knot - to an extra.

The event is one of the final scenes of “Nailed Right In,” an ensemble 1980s coming-of-age drama the trio have been filming in New York for over a month.

The night before the wedding scene, Prinze and Suvari’s characters consummated their relationship though the pair had just met in real life. The “American Beauty” actress was shooting “Rumor Has It” with Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner and director Rob Reiner while Prinze and others were in rehearsals for “Nailed Right In.” Continue reading ‘On The Set of ‘Nailed Right In’ - Part 2′

Mena to star in ‘Nailed Right In”

WOW! Another film! Mena is one busy star!

ComingSoon.net reports that Director Michael Corrente has set Alec Baldwin, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mena Suvari, Scott Caan and Jerry Ferrara (Entourage) to star in Lions Gate Films’ Nailed Right In, a New York-based drama written by Emmy-winning The Sopranos writer Terence Winter.

“Nailed” is the story of three boyhood friends who come of age in Brooklyn during John Gotti’s rise. When one becomes enamored of the Mafia lifestyle, it frays the friendships and puts all the pals in grave danger. Baldwin plays a mobster, Prinze, Caan and Ferrara the friends.

Variety reports that Corrente began shooting on Monday for Iridium Entertainment. The company will produce two more films (The Berkeley Connection, The Prince of Providence) that he will direct, plus a fourth to be helmed by Peter Care (The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys).
