Design-her Gals launched the first of its kind virtual walk for Stage IV breast cancer on behalf of the Gal to Gal Foundation. Along the way, we have been fortunate to have met incredible women who are battling the disease with grace, determination and sheer strength of spirit. Now, the Gal to Gal Virtual walk is rapidly approaching the West Coast.

Time Magazine disclosed this month that in 2007, there will be 500,000 women who will die of breast cancer. That number is 200,000 more than last year. And although there is a reduction of new cases — it is not taking away from the increase (both nationally and globally) of women who are not surviving. Certainly, the organizations that are focusing on finding THE CURE need to continue in their mission, but supporters should also be aware of organizations that have dedicated its resources to those living with and dying of breast cancer today. The Gal to Gal Foundation currently grants wishes for patients battling Stage IV and plans to create the first of its kind social networking site for Stage IV patients and families.

For $3 users log on and join the walk by creating their own virtual person. They can invite their friends and family to join them or join up with their favorite celebrities.

Dozens of celebrity ambassadors such as Martha Stewart, Lynn Redgrave, Kristin Chenoweth, Angie Harmon, Molly Sims, Mena Suvari, Diane Farr, Leisha Hailey, Marg Helgenberger, Jaslene Gonzales, Jorja Fox, Christina Cabot and Diedre Goodwin among others are lending their support by participating in the virtual walk.

New walkers can join at any time — sharing their motivational stories and building momentum as more people participate in this innovative fundraising effort. Gal to Gal Walk will be hitting the West Coast highlighting the following cities — San Diego on October 26th, Los Angeles on October 27th, Sacramento on October 28th and San Francisco on October 31st.
